From now on Im going to speak like an anime protagonist giving an inspirational speech, because….. *clenches fist* because there are people who believe in me! People who are constantly giving me strength! And even if they’re not with me right now…. *faint smile at the ground*…. They’re always sending  me their wishes a-and I want to be able to give them courage too!!!!

Why single out Israel? Because Israel is the only serial human rights abuser that enjoys consistent and enthusiastic support by all the liberal democracies of the North.

This support gives the Israeli state an impunity that Iran, Sudan, Zimbabwe or Burma, to name but four, do not enjoy because their human rights abuses are all—rightly and however unprincipled—attacked by the major powers.

Israel alone is allowed to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity; it alone is allowed to repeatedly ignore United Nations resolutions without any opposition from northern governments and major institutions.

‘Why Israel only’ is tired and hypocritical

This is so important. No one is saying Israel is the only state to ever commit human rights abuses, but it is unique in enjoying support for those human rights abuses [from most of powerful states] by painting itself, the oppressor, repeatedly as the victim.

Look at what’s relevant again, and still old.

Is Hamas a by-product of the Israeli occupation? Yes. Just as Hezbollah is a by-product of the Israeli occupation of Lebanon, al-Shabab a by-product of Ethiopia’s occupation of Somalia, al-Qaeda of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, and the Islamic State, of the US ’ occupation of Iraq. Historical records make that clear.

Al-Qaeda is not a by-product of Soviet occupation. Al-Qaeda militants were recruited by the U.S. to fight communism in Afghanistan. Therefore, Al-Qaeda is not a by-product of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan; it is a product of U.S. interests in the country.

What happened in Afghanistan has not been discussed in the West. When the Soviet Union intervened in Afghanistan, the US saw in it an opportunity that was two-fold. One, to tie the Soviet Union in a Vietnam-like war in Afghanistan. Two, they saw in it an opportunity to mobilise the entire Muslim world in a violent way against the Soviet Union, against communism.

American operatives went around the Muslim world recruiting for the jihad in Afghanistan. This whole phenomenon of jihad as an international armed struggle has not existed in the Muslim world since the 10th century. It was brought back into being, enlivened, and pan-Islamised by the American effort. I saw planeloads of them arriving—from Algeria, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Palestine. These people were brought in, given an ideology, told that the armed struggle is a virtuous thing to do, and the whole notion of jihad as an international pan-Islamic terrorist movement was born. The US spent 8 billion dollars in producing the bin Ladens of our time. That camp they hit in Afghanistan, I visited it in 1986. It was a CIA-sponsored camp.

GIVEAWAY!
This is the first giveaway I’ve ever done. Ever. I’m excited to spread the comic love, but nervous it won’t get spread as much as I hope. So please! Reblog and share this with your friends!
What I’m giving away are Issues 1—5 of Ms. Marvel (I know issue #6 is pictured, and that’s my mistake, but only 1—5 will be part of the first volume, hence why those are the ones you’ll be getting). They are all in mint condition, kept in plastic covers, etc. I just don’t have the first print of the first issue, which is why it’s blue.
The Rules (read these! seriously!):
Open to U.S. residents only. Sorry :(
The contest will be open for one week and ends August 6 at midnight EST; I may extend it if there aren’t that many participants.
I’m not looking for followers; there is no reason to follow me, unless you want to. All I ask is that you like and reblog the post so I know you’re at least somewhat serious about it.
And finally… no boys. I make it a point to read and buy comics that don’t feature the typical Straight White Male™ and want the comics I’ve purchased to be passed on to people who can identify more with them. (If you are non-binary, I trust you to use your discretion when participating).
I’m doing this because while I like supporting my local comic book shop, I’m not really fond of holding onto individual issues. Hopefully this giveaway is successful, since I’d like to do more of them. However, I ain’t made of money, so my pull list isn’t that large, meaning I can’t do this too too often and there might only be like, four titles available in total for me to giveaway. If YOU would like this to happen more often, you can donate to my PayPal (the link is on the side of my page or here).
I promise that any money donated will be used to purchase and giveaway comics. Shoot me a message to suggest titles, either for pulls or graphic novels, because this is, essentially, for you all. If the donate thing doesn’t go over well, no big deal; I’ll donate any money that was received to a kickstarter that supports women/minorities in comics. So whatever the outcome, I won’t be using anything that’s been donated in goodwill for personal use. That’s the type of behavior that ruins something like this, and that’s the opposite of what I want happening.
Thanks and good luck!

this is cool and important you should reblog this and help start a thing and you might get cool and important comics
